Brittney’s Love

As a southern Ohio native, I grew up on the farm.  For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for photography and a passion for animals. As a youngin’ I volunteered for the local animal shelter, in my free time whil e you would find all the other children outside playing, you would find me sitting in front of the computer scrolling through pet wanted ads. Because I knew each and every pet personally I believed that I could make the difference and maybe I could play so called match maker.

As I grew older there were two things that never changed, My love for animals and my interest in photography.  Growing up my mother always had a Minolta 35mm camera there in the house I used to use it on occasion wasting rolls and rolls of film J So I asked for a camera of my own, when I received my first camera as a gift I wasted no time in finding subjects still and live to snap.  I had rolls and rolls of film to develop and kept every picture good or bad. I still have that same passion today, the difference is today I understand the need for patience and precision to capture a wonderful photo.

My family and I moved to Florida in the fall of 2010, bringing with me my farm girl roots, and back home heritage.  I believe these roots are one of the many things that inspire my photography and passions.  Things are much different up north, I have great enthusiasm for photos that appear rustic or so called vintage, and outdoor photos.  I am sure that has nothing to do with growing up surrounded by rustic farm houses and vintage décor J.  I tend to take photographs that can be transformed into a vintage look and not lose its feel.

So, after moving to Florida, I started working for a local veterinarian clinic, where I met the one and only Gisele The Dog Liberator.  We spoke often, most times in passing.  Shortly after starting with the clinic, they made a dreaded announcement; corporate offices had made the decision to in force mandatory budget cuts.  After a looong search for another position,  and depleting unemployment benefits, I decided that maybe me going back into the corporate world really wasn’t where I was meant to be.  Maybe this was one door closed but a bigger door opened.

Sitting on Gisele’s front porch with one of her rescues Sweet Tea, I couldn’t help but notice the guitar and just the look of the Alabama Sweet Tea next to it… equipped with nothing more than my measly 5mp cell phone camera, I thought to myself what the heck I am going to snap a few shots anyway.   So that is exactly what I done. Upon showing the finished product to Gisele with the Rustic look on old paper and a sepia effect, She exclaims “If you are this good with a cell phone! Why aren’t you utilizing your talents?”   My response, “I don’t know where to begin, I don’t know the first thing about starting a business.”  Well as luck would have it Gisele did!  That is how Brittneys Touch was born.

After getting most of our ducks in a row and deciding to call it Brittneys Touch,  One particular photo came to mind.  I had a picture that was sent to me to fix a few years ago, it was a young girl on the beach playing in the sand, I had to show it to Gisele.  Her reaction, “There it is! Brittneys Touch!”

Finally, My passion and Love for photography has a set of roots  of its own, somewhere to call home www.Brittneystouch.com .  Starting out as just taking dull photos and transforming them into works of photo art, I knew it wasn’t going to be enough.  While I love to transform the pictures, I love even more being the vision behind the lens.  With that I decided I would incorporate Brittney Live.

“Life is like a camera, just focus on what’s important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” ~unknown

  1. This is great Britt. I love the concept of this. You are a really good person and can see and know what these poor animals need. Some love, care and kindness. I love the stories that you add behind your photographs. They really bring the pictures to life. I was looking for more after I finished each section. Keep it up girl and thank you for dedicating your time/life to the animals. Your awesome!
